Widows 10 broke virtualbox

Post by torfosnaes »

Can't uninstall old version; can't install new version after upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10.
VIrtualBox "ended prematurely" error message, regardless method, Run, Run as Administrator, etc.

It took me five years to find something that worked properly for my over the wire connections, and now six months later Windows turns around and breaks it.

Is there a fix that works, that doesn't involve useless registry edits or arcane bits of code that seem to spring from the minds of mental patients?

Any help appreciated.

Very odd indeed. I did not need to reinstall VirtualBox after upgrade from Win 8.1 to 10 and all vms booted up as before. Looks like something went amiss with your upgrade. Can you install any programs under Windows 10?

Yes because I reset after upgrading to Windows 10 when a virus affected my pc

To reset go to Start>Settings> and then find the category Windows Update is>Recovery>Refresh

Note: I do not remember if this removes VM's
