Virtualbox crash when closing lid on laptop.

Post by lotsofjam »

Hi all

One of our guys has an issue where if you close his laptop lid with virtualbox running it crashes and the vm goes into aborted state.

Via our helpdesk:-

"The instruction at 0x69866f99 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be read. Click on OK to terminate the program"
Does not go away when disabling 3d accelleration

The VM has 4 gigs allocated, the host machine is win7 64bit with 8 gigs of ram.

I have attached the logs. Any suggestions? Thanks.

You should upgrade to 5.0.6, and then only if the problem persists, raise a BugTracker ticket.

Oh: and I suggest that you cut the RAM allocation to this guest to 2GB, and the CPU cores to 1. 4GB is not sensible when the host only has 4.4GB available. Plus you will not get good performance if you assign both cores of a dual core host, to the guest.

Hello again! I have done as you asked, the issue persists. I'll raise a bug tracker ticket.

I had same issue with my Dell Inspiron 15, video driver updating fixed it. You should try that...
