sshfs from linux guest (Win10 host) to linux server

Post by Pocc »

I'm having a problem with sshfs (remote file system mounting) and wanted to know how to configure virtualbox network settings properly.

These are the two posts in this subforum that mention sshfs (trying to find posts that deal with same issue). They only mention it in passing and not substantively:
forums.virtualbox DOT org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=43319

I have a netbook server running Xubuntu 14.04.3 (eeePC), using port 55516 for ssh. I have a laptop running a windows 10 host and a Xubuntu 14.04.3 VM guest. I want to mount sshfs on the linux guest, but I've run into issues. I posted about this on ubuntuforums, but realized that the problems were VirtualBox's, not a problem with the ssh or sshfs configuration on the server. It likely has useful information:

ubuntuforums DOT org/showthread.php?t=2299036

I've been able to get sshfs to work on my linux VM guest with port 22, which is the default, but not 55516. I've been using NAT in virtualbox network settings, and understand that bridged adapter can be preferable, but bridged adapter breaks the internet for the VM. I've added a rule for windows firewall to make an exception for VirtualBox.

I'd be happy to post any log information on any of the machines.
