ubuntu seamless not working

Post by frankje »

Hello, I am running ubuntu 15.04 in VirtualBox on a mac os x el capitan. I installed the guest additions while running ubuntu, but when I select the 'seamless' options for viewing the machine crashes and stops running. What am I doing wrong here?

Thanks in advance, Frank

Make sure Auto-resize Guest Display is checked in the View menu and 3D acceleration is disabled.

Even though I did both things it still crashes when choosing 'seamless'. However the 'fullscreen' option is now working properly...

Which Mac and VB version are you running? You could try the current test builds. https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Testbuilds

FWIW, VB 5.0.6 and above are the most OSX 10.11 compatible. Ubuntu 15.04 is not crashing for me with those settings when switching to seamless.

that's why I asked which Mac. If it has dual graphics cards that might be the reason.

You should attach the vbox.log for the guest…
With the VM fully shut down, right click it in the VB GUI. Select "Show Log" and save "VBox.log" (ONLY) to a zip file. Attach the zip here.

press the edit button on your last post, look for the Upload Attachment Tab on the bottom of the message area.
