Hi, I cannot boot my Windows 8.1 VM after host updates (Windows 8.1).
See my log.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Which log are you referring to? Zip the log if it needs to be smaller.
p.s. Ideally you should give a narrower OS version range of "Windows".

00:00:02.348524 Guest OS type: 'WindowsXP'
Configure your VM correctly and try again.
Also:
00:00:02.221693 Host RAM: 8079MB total, 5054MB available
00:00:02.806504 RamSize <integer> = 0x0000000100000000 (4 294 967 296, 4 GB)
The RAM setting for the VM is too high.

Did you also set the correct guest OS type for WIn 8.1 32 or 64bit?

As Martin has said, you have not selected the correct guest OS template in the VM settings. A Windows 8.1 guest in particular will not run using anything less than the Windows 8.1 template.
A host OS update did not change your VM settings.

Hi Martin,
thanks a lot!
I had set 32bit version instead of 64bit version. I don't understand how is possible that guest os change this settings, but now it works.

It was more than that - you had XP selected as the OS type. Changing to XP 64bit would not have fixed the problem; a Windows 8.1. guest requires the Windows 8.1 template, it will not even even run with the Windows 8.0 template.
The biggest lesson to be taken from this topic, IMHO, is that to avoid trouble you need to be precise at identifying software versions, particularly VirtualBox, the guest OS, and the host OS.

Yes, it is true
