Firstly, to any people from Virtualbox who are watching this forum - many thanks for an absolutely fantastic product. It has been working brilliantly for me.
A Linux kernel upgrade broke Virtualbox. (Error: VirtualBox kernel driver not installed. VBox status code: -1908) I tried running 'sudo vboxdrv setup' but got a command not found error.
So I thought, I'll download the latest version of Virtualbox as that seems to have worked for others. Trouble is, on the downloads page there are debs for 7.10 and 8.04 only. I'm running 7.04 and cannot upgrade because neither 7.10 nor 8.04 works with my wireless network card.
So would it be okay to install the 7.10 version, or is there a better solution? Thanks.
SOLVED - No deb for Ubuntu 7.04? Or can I use the 7.10 deb?

Thanks for your reply Frank.
Is it possible to install two versions of VirtualBox side by side, so that I can test the 7.10 version to see if it works without disrupting the version that's working?
As a workaround I have reverted to the older kernel so that I can keep my current version of virtual box running.

No, you can only install one version. But if you upgrade, the new version will ask for updating your config files. Choose to create backups. If the new version would not work you have the backup files still available. Search for *.bak (AFAIR) in ~/.VirtualBox and rename these files properly.
But as soon as you were able to install the 7.10 package and you were able to start the GUI you shouldn't expect more problems.

I tried the Gusty deb, but that did not work.
So I tried the Dapper deb and that worked! Thanks.
