Hello everyone,
Before, I used this way on virtualbox with Windows platform.
Use this way, I can free to run the OS on host or VM.
1. register a vm system, choose the vhd file as the hard disk file.
2. Install the DVD to install the windows OS on VM
3. Before its finished, shut it down by manual
4. rebooting the host with PE system CD or Windows DVD, use the CLI interface
5. add the vhd file with "diskpart"
6. write the booting information into bcdboot
7. rebooting
8. the system will continue the installation the windows OS.
But now, when I upgraded the virtualbox to 5.0, I can't use the VboxGuestadditions.iso. Before, I can.
If I use the it on the VM, I can't run this system with host environment.
No any error message, just a black screen.
I think that is a problem on the graphic driver.
Anybody know, how to fix this problem, Thanks.
vhd OS file booting from host
Re: vhd OS file booting from host
Are you trying to use the VHD file in a VM and also boot the Host from the same VHD file after windows is initial installed and set up?
Or are you justing trying to begin the installation in the vm, then use it only booting on host hardware forever after that?
If the latter, its far simpler to just mount the installation dvd iso, and use the vhd, and use
dism to apply the install.wim file to the vhd, and then manually create boot files. No VM needed.
