Microphone Not Working on XP Guest

Dear friends,

I've search all accross the forum and the google about this issue I'm having and can't solve it anyway.
I'm using a Windows XP guest on Mac OS El Capitan but cannot make the microphone works.
I tried:

Changing the audio controller but ICH AC97 worked best
Changing the recording option from microphone to input, aux, phono, and so on but anyone worked.
Recording sound with windows sound recorder. The bar won't move.

Any suggestion I can try?

AFAIK, you have to use an external microphone instead of the one built in.
