setup wizard ended prematurely because of an error

Post by noobusinglinux »

hello all im the noobusinglinux its my first post here
unfortunately my work will require me to use windows and the only valid copy i have that is still supported is Vista :x so ill user VM appliances that should suffice for Internet security

so ive been trying to upgrade to virtualbox 5.0.6 and along in the installation wizard is this rather useless error oracle VM VirtualBox 5.0.6 has ended prematurely it goes on to say that my system has not been changed and that i may try again witch is great but id be more able to do so once ive diagnosed the problem
does anybody know why the setup wizard might do this? or perhaps how i might fix this?
that would be nice thank you all in advance

The installer on Windows Hosts is the standard Windows installer (MSI), so if you have a problem with that then it's really Microsoft you should complain to.

If you use Google you can find out how to enable MSI logging, and then we might be able to find out why it fails.

Usually, it's either a bad download or a permissions issue. For the former, check the MD5 checksum. For the latter, make sure you are logged in as the correct user and use "Run as administrator" to run the installer.

I would ask Microsoft. It is their KB you are using.
