So I recently updated my mac to OS X 10.11 El Capitan. Some code I was running from school stopped working, and someone suggested I install Virtual Box to emulate a linux distro that will let me run the code.
My problem is during the installation process, when verifying packages I get an "Installation Failed" error not specifying any other reason. I see some people have Virtual Box running on El Capitan (I don't need USB support), but I'm wondering if the OS is the problem, or some other issue.

Re: Installing VirtualBox on El Capitan
Don't install the command line tools.
This looks to be related to El Captain's "rootless" feature.
