Windows 7 - adding VirtualBox to add Windows XP

Hello,

I installed the VirtualBox software on a brand new computer that runs Windows 7. I put the disk for Windows XP Professional and the Oracle VM VirtualBox asks me to press enter when it is in the CD drive. It is but for some reason it says:

"Setup could not read the CD you inserted, or the CD is not a valid Windows CD. I have 3 copies of this and all of them give me the same error. They are authentic. Is there something I can do to correct this problem?

Thanks in advance!

How did you get a hold of your CD? Did you download an ISO file from someplace? If so, where from? Did you verify that the CD is not corrupted?

Did you perhaps burned the CD? If so, did you try to boot your physical machine from the CD to see if it actually is bootable?

In any event, please read the following and act upon it: Minimum information needed for assistance.

They are actual microsoft XP CD's that I bought many years ago.

I just downloaded the VirtualBox so it is the newest version for windows: Version 5.0.6r103037

I looked through the cd and now I think it is the 32 bit version. When I set up the VirtualBox, I set it up for the 64 bit version of xp. Maybe that is why it is giving me that error.

It could very well be. Can you boot from the CDs on your actual hardware? I don't mean to install XP over 7, just that it actually boots.
