Hi I am using Windows 10, and I want to install Linux mint in Oracle virtual box on Windows.

I have Windows 10.

I have: "VirtualBox-5.0.6-103037-Win.exe" from oracle virtual box webpage

I have "linuxmint-17.2-cinnamon-64bit.iso" from Linux mint cinnamon download page

I install virtual box exactly following the instruction and set up a linux mint 64 bit virtual machine by:
1) choosing Debian 64 bits and following the wizard
2) in the first run of the virtual machine, I choose the above iso
3) it then take me to the login page of linux mint, which is not what I want. What I expect to see is the desktop of linux mint that contain the 'install linux' file.
As this is my first run of the virtual machine, I didn't set up any account before, so I cannot proceed. I stuck at the login page and I don't know why this happens.
I want to install Linux mint 17.2 Cinnamon on Oracle virtual box

Thank you.

If you have the guest booting then VirtualBox has done its thing. This means that your issue about install is between you and Mint not VirtualBox.
The Mint folks have a nice forum that can answer your install questions and point you to the proper file to download.

FWIW, Linux Mint 17.2 is Ubuntu based and LMDE 2 is Debian based so the template really should have been Ubuntu 64bit.

If Mint was installed somehow without an account, although I don't remember that being possible, you just need to reinstall, filling out the account info this time. If you check "Log in Automatically" when setting it up you will go straight to the desktop without having to log in.
