I've the same problem with version 1.6.2.

Windows (Client) start booting and then the Login-Screen appears. I can't do any input nor I can use the mouse to select an user.

The problem occured after deinstalling the 'Gastsystemerweiterungen' V1.5.0 with was advised by the installer of the new version. Windows then reboots and here I am :-(

How can I start my guest now?

Thx Klaus

So you both are running Ubuntu as host? And do you have compiz enabled? Could you try if deactivating compiz makes any difference? And please make sure that you really use VirtualBox 1.6.2.

Yes I have compiz enabled, but I solved my problem as follows:

When booting Windows-guest I pressed F8 for further boot-options and selected
'Letzte lauffähige Version wieder herstellen' (Restore last operational session?).
After this the mouse and keyboard where ok and I was able to install the xVM-extensions from the CD-image (not the menu!).

All works fine now.

I did have Compiz enabled, and once I went back to "NONE* on the visual effects (I am running Ubuntu 8.04.1). After that, the mouse issue went away, so I would say that there is a compatibility issue with VB 1.6.2 and Compiz... is this something that is already being worked on?
