Hi. I had Virtualbox 5.0.0. I don't know what exactly happened but I wanted to install new version (because 5.0.0 version had a bug about Debian). When it asked me if I wanted to install network adapter, I went to programs and tried to uninstall the old one. My computer crashed (BSOD) in the middle of uninstalling.
Now I can't uninstall Virtualbox or the network adapter. It gives me BSOD (kernel_security_check_failure). I can't uninstall/install some other programs because the installer says Virtualbox installation was aborted and it needs to recover changes before installing the application. If I click to yes, I get BSOD.
Someone help me about getting rid of this buggy application (I think the problem is caused by Virtualbox network adapter driver)?

I don't use system protection.. Is there another way to remove the driver forcefully? (win 8.1)

I don't know. Things like this is why I use System Protection....

I don't have any backups. I can't reset because I'm away from home for 4 months.

Computers do BSOD at unfortunate times. The program being run may not be at fault. That's what System Restore and backups are for.

Frankly, Microsoft broke your computer. Or this: "When it asked me if I wanted to install network adapter, I went to programs and tried to uninstall the old one" broke the computer. Failures in the installing and uninstalling are actually in the Microsoft programs that install Virtualbox, or they're PEBKAC errors, not in the Virtualbox programs themselves. (Virtualbox isn't running while it's being uninstalled, so it can't break your computer at that time.) There may be logs that might tell you where the problem is happening. BSODs do leave info on the PC you can debug and find the cause. Google for these things from Microsoft. You can also google for this: "uninstall Virtualbox failed site:forums.virtualbox.org" or some such variation, see what others may have to help.

Only thing I can recall to help you now is to go through the registry and remove every reference to Virtualbox.

Not having System Restore running or having a backup has got you a broken installer system you can't recover from easily. Not taking a backup now before footling about in the Registry could get you a dead PC.
