Hi.

Windows 7 Host. I have been using VBox for some time. I wanted to upgrade to V5

Firstly I cannot uninstall VB completly. I use the usual uninstall but it remaines in the list of installed software

So I tried to install V5 and I always get

'Oracle VM VirtualBox 5.5.2 Setup Wizard ended prematurely'

I tried to install 4.3.30 but I always get the same result.

I do not know where the logs are and cannot find any reason for the issue!

Please help, my vm is critical to my work and while I have a backup it is no use without Virtualbox

I have overcome this issue. I basically purged 'Oracle + VirtualBox' from the registory.

I then was unable to load my VM untill I performed a Repair in VirtuarBox installation (I re-ran the installer).

Now it will not install the guest additions.

Installing graphics libraries and desktop services compon[failed]

The log says

Windows System and desktop setup install_x11_startup_app: no script given

Can anyone help please.

Thanks to : All I had to do is to remove the VirtualBoxGuestAdditions symlinks.
The commands to be executed are the following:

> rm /usr/lib64/VBoxGuestAdditions
> rm /usr/share/VBoxGuestAdditions

Come on Oracle get you installer sorted. This has cost me a day of wasted time!
