Usefull Hotkey gone???

Hey everybody,

i´m not sure if i´m just to silly or if the hotkey has really past away so i ask you: Is there a chance to get the hotkey for inserting the guest additions back working? I install a lot of test machines under Windows and miss it nearly daily....

VirtualBox version?

The hotkey is <host>+D. The current user manual still shows that as being the default host key assignment.

No, you're not silly. The hotkey changed (don't know why). But it's an easy fix. Open VirtualBox preferences, "Input", "Virtual Machine" tab and change "Insert Guest Additions CD Image..." to the old default of "Host-D".

If any of the developers looks at this, the omission is in the "UIActionPoolRuntime.cpp" file. This happened in the 5.x version:

The thing about "Host+D no more calls for Insert GA image" was our decision, we removed default shortcuts from few rarely used actions, and if user wish - he can assign them manually back (Preferences => Input page).
Reason is, as we were discussing, users can accidentally disable guest auto-resize feature while trying to enter full-screen mode (Host+F goes full-screen, Host+G toggles auto-resize).
Simple miss-type key "F" with "G" (which located nearby) can cause consequences which are not instantly obvious for simple user. 4 men confirmed that happened for them at least once (me as well).
Same way we decided to remove Host+D shortcut as well since "D" stays at the left of "F".

I found it, the german Translation was difficult to understand, but on an updated Installation i found it and now i know how to fix this issue
