dedicating nic on windows 10

I have a windows 10 host with a ethernet and wireless adapter. I would like my windows 7 guest to use the Ethernet exclusively as a bridged adapter. The problem is that the windows 10 host connects automatically to when I plug in the cat 5. Is this ok? I can't disable the adapter in the host as virtualbox can't see it. How can I make the guest only use the nic?

Go to Network and Sharing center, Change adapter settings, (select your adapter), Properties, uncheck everything but the VirtualBox Bridged Adapter.

Awesome, thanks!
EDIT: Actually, When I unchecked everything but virtualbox bridged adapter, it stopped showing up in virtualbox as an option for a bridged adapter.

So what did you do to solve this? It could help future users with a similar problem...

That was meant as a question, sorry I wasn't clear. I was hoping someone knew how to solve this. IF I enable ipv4, I can use it, but then I have to assign an ip for the host machine and thus the conflict I was trying to avoid.
I am getting really poor network performance with my virtual machine which is why I posted. I am unable to use it for the application I intended.

Are you using VBox 5.0.4? That version has a problem like that. It requires either IP4 or IP6 to be selected for the interface to be available for bridging.
It should be fixed in the latest test build and the next release.

Yes I am. Where can I get the latest build and How can I upgrade without losing my virtual machines. Thank you.

You can enable IPv6 rather than IPv4 and that should eliminate the IP conflict.
You can find the latest test build here.
https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Testbuilds
Upgrading the VBox version will not affect you vms.

The latest test build did not show the ethernet adapter as a selection for bridged.
