I think VirtualBox is a great product. I was using 1.5x before and other than some sporadic performance issues it was running very well.
I downloaded version 1.6.2.
I first installed it on Open SuSE 10.3 64-bit as a headless server. I am using bridging (not NAT).
I installed XP Pro clean.
My XP Guest was crashing often. (I got a "[1]+ Segmentation fault" on the console)
I thought it was a 64 bit thing, so I wiped the drive and started over with 10.3 in 32bit version.
I get the same thing. The guest can crash sometimes rebooting, sometimes copying a file from the shared folder. I don't think it is the machine--I had run VB version 1.5x on this same box before.
I am giving up on SuSE and trying Ubuntu 8.04 64 bit.
I am trying to build a stable server for production use and I was hoping VBox would fit the bill. I may have to use VMWare 1.6 for stability.
