VBox 1.6.2 - Hardy: Merging All Snapshots

Post by Quasaur »

Platform: Dell Inspiron 1525n (Model PP29L)
Intel® Pentium(R) Dual Core™ T2330 (1.60GHz/500Mhz FSB/1MB cache)
Distro: Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy (running KDE 3.5.9)
VirtualBox: 1.6.2-31466-Ubuntu_hardy (deb)
VirtualBox Guest: Windows Vista Home Premium
The VirtualBox Guest Additions: Installed

Attached is a screenshot of my snapshots:

these snapshots are taking up 8.7GB of space on my HD. They served me when I was setting up my Vista Machine...but now I just want ONE snapshot that contains my vista in pristine condition...application data is being saved outside the vm and is not a concern.

How do I do this???

Thanks for your help!

VBox 1.6.2 - Hardy: Merging All Snapshots

Hi Quasar,

Starting with Snapshot 1, "Discard" it either by pressing Ctrl+Shift+D or using the 4th icon from the left (the computer with the x in the lower right corner). You'll get a progress indicator saying something to the effect that it's merging the snapshot. I find it tends to sit at 50% or so for a while. Then you discard Snapshot 2, then Snapshot 3 and so on, ALWAYS working from the top downwards. Stop when you have as many snapshots as you want.

Getting rid of snapshots is a good way of reclaiming disc space!

Good luck.
