running Haiku as guest

Post by chanmix51 »

Hi,

I ve tryed several times to run Haiku in VirtualBox but I always encouter a kernel error at the very begining. I ve tryed with vmWare images and converted raw images, both did lead to the kernel debug prompt.

Is there someone who succeeded in running Haiku ?

I am running VirtualBox on an Ubuntu 7.04 installed from the .deb archive.

debugging infos

Hi,

I ve posted the same topic on the Haiku forum asking how I could help them to solve the problem. They replied I could listen to the serial port and send them the output.

I had a look in VirtualBox documentation in order to plug guest's COM1 port and it looked a bit confusing to me. Is there a simple way to record the guest serial port output in a file on the host's disk ?

I have tried Haiku a while ago, but its timing loop (at kernel boot) is so picky, that I didn't get to the point of the crash most of the time.

Enabling the serial port is quite easy. Just follow the instructions in the manual and use a 3rd party application to connect to the named pipe.
