Hi all,

after upgrading from windows 8.1 to windows 10 i'am unable to access the vdi discs

VB is looking for C:\Users\Patrick\VirtualBox VMs\Android Lollipop\Android Lollipop.vdi
and the directory is C:\Gebruikers\Patrick\VirtualBox VMs\Android Lollipop\Android Lollipop.vdi

English versus Dutch language!!!

After installing VM release 5, the install of the extention pack also fails due the same failure.

Anyone who has a suggestion to solve this problem

VirtualBox shouldn't have to look for any VDIs. The VDI belonging to a VM should be right there in the VM folder. If you move the VDI to a non-standard location then this is precisely the kind of problem you should expect.

Do I gather that you have the old VM registered successfully, only the path to the VDI is wrong?

If so, first move the VDI inside the VM folder. Then Use File|Virtual Media Manager to unregister the bad VDI registration. Then use the Storage panel in the VM settings to add back the hard disk, this time using the correct local path.

I have installed VM under Windows 8.1 and added several windows OS without any problems.

After upgrading to Windows 10 I got immediately 2 problems:
- (1) network card not found: problem solved
and
- (2) VirtualBox Warning:
One or more disk image files are nor currently accessible. As a result you will not able to operate virtual machines that use these files until they become accessible later.
Press check to open the Virtual Media Manager Window and see which files are inaccessible, or press Ignore to ignore this message
If pressed "check":
for every os there is a box with:
Type: Normal
Location: c:\Users\Patrick\VirtualBox VMs\os\os.vdi
Format: VDI
Storage details: Dynamically allocated storage
Attached to: os
Encrypted with key: Not encrypted
UUID: 12345678-1234-1234-1234-123456789012

where "os" is any windows version and UUID here replaced bij position numbers

If I open windows explorer and go to the c: drive i have no directory users, but only the Dutch directory "gebruikers".

I have tried to remove the vdi in a particular "os" and to add again in the "storage" option without any success.

If I try to add a directory users in the c: drive the system replies that the map already exists, it refers to the Dutch map c:/gebruikers

I never moved files out or into the c:/gebruikers/patrick/virtualbox vms
and every os has 3 files in the directory: .vbox, .vdi, .vbox-prev

for me it looks if c:/users/patrick/virtualbox vms is not translated to c:/gebruikers/patrick/virtualbox
whereby "user" English and "gebruikers" Dutch are not the same!!!
