Shared clipboard stopped working with 5.x release

I've used VB on Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 hosts fine until I updated to 5.0.4. Now the shared clipboard feature does not work no matters what settings I use. How can I fix it? It's been killing me.

Hosting Mint and Win10.

running 5.0.4 on Linux (ubuntu 15.04), with a Win10 VM. installed both via ubuntu repos and .run script, and still no copy-paste.
