Seamless mode confinement

Hi all,
I'm running XP Pro as guest on Ubuntu Hardy with VBox 1.6.0. I'm looking to something that "seamlessly"
integrates some XP applications into my Linux desktop. But, if I'm not mistaken, seamless mode in VBox is just 1 step short of what I'd like.
After I set my VM to seamless mode, the XP desktop disappears and the windows applications seem to float freely on the desktop, but only on the linux desktop, where the VBox window would be. Since you have several (virtual) desktops in gnome, I cannot move for example my Outlook window to desktop 5 and my Word window to desktop 3. Is that correct? Or am I missing something?
The new VMware workstation 6.5b does exactly that (what they call unity mode), however, it runs kind of sluggish, is still buggy, has a (much) larger footprint, and is very expensive (can' beat free!:)
Thanks and cheers,
Riko
