built in macbook pro mic not recognized in Win10?

I only just installed VirtualBox and Windows 10 today, mainly so that I could use a language learning program. Unfortunately using the microphone is kind of a big part of the program, and I can't seem to get it to work. I've googled around a bit and it looks like I want to be able to select "line in" for my default microphone, but the only one that's showing up under "recording devices" is "High definition audio device," which is not recognizing any sounds that I make.
Does anyone know the fix for this? Do I download a driver or something? I'm on a 2015 macbook pro.
Edit: more specs: Host: Yosemite 10.5.5; Guest: Windows 10 Education; VirtualBox 5.0.4 with guest additions and extension pack installed.

If by "default microphone" you mean the one built into your MBP I don't believe you can use that. You would need an external microphone. I don't know that MBPs have a line-in so you would need to use a USB Microphone. There are other posts on the forum about problems trying to use a microphone in Windows guests. Not to mention Windows 10 is not yet an officially supported guest.

Shoot, okay. I just didn't know that you can't use your built in microphone. Thanks.

Well, I was using my macbook pro internal mic in vbox vm until 2 days ago when it stopped working. There's something weird here that I want to figure out. ...

Well, the only thing that changed was installing a test build, which broke the internal mic. Previously when I went back to the official release the mic fixed itself, but not this time. Strange, because VMware fusion 7 works with the internal mic, and using that vmdk for vb didn't help. I may need an external mic. I'll test and post the results.
