Auto-Resize Guest Display Fails after Mac Standby

I am using VirtualBox VM 5.0.4 with Windows 10 virtual machine on my Macbook Pro 2015

I can get the Auto-Resize Guest Display to work properly any time I reboot the virtual machine.

However, when my Macbook goes to standby and then I return to the virtual machine, it stops working. None of the resize options, changing screen resolution or other features work and my only option is the reboot the VM. It starts working again after I log into the Windows 10 desktop on the VM only to fail again when my machine goes to sleep or standby later in the day.

Any advice on this would be helpful. Trying to use this product instead of installing VMWare Fusion.

Thanks!

FWIW, just tested putting my iMac to sleep with the Windows 10 guest open and in focus. When I woke the host, the Windows 10 guest was greyed out. After approx. 10 seconds, the guest "woke" and behaved normally. If the guest is not in focus, it immediately is active.

One thing to check. Right-click on the VirtualBox app, choose "Get Info", then enable "Prevent App Nap".

Make sure the Windows 10 guest isn't set to "sleep" as well.

See: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202824 for info on Sleep vs Standby.
