[Windows 10] host to (& from) guest communication [bridged]

Post by Pierre22 »

Hi all,

I'm meeting a problem to ssh, ping & so on from host Windows 10 to Linux guest. I'm using a bridge adapter to make linux guest part of my lan. This is strange because DHCP request from the linux guest to my LAN works. Guest gets its address. When i'm trying to SSH or PING from another real machine on the Lan to the linux guest, it works too ...
I tried to deactivate windows firewall. Same thing.

Doest anyone met this too ?

Regards,

Pierre

Which version of VirtualBox are you running and have you tried one of the latest test builds as some work has been done to resolve this issue.

Andy.
My crystal ball is currently broken. If you want assistance you are going to have to give me all of the necessary information.
Please don't ask me to do your homework for you, I have more than enough of my own things to do.

Did not fix it for me.

Win 10 host, Intel 1217V nic. Can internet ipv4 & ipv6. Debian guest bridged network can ping lan hosts, but cannot access Windows shares, FTP, or SSH lan hosts.
Guest can ping my NAS, for example, but cannot retrieve a share index. SSH from guest to another lan host fails. Guest's Apache server works though.

Have tried changing guest adapter ipv6, mtu, etc, to no avail. Guest bridged network points properly to lan's dns server.

Problem showed initally with Win 8.1 host upgrade to VBox 5. Had to rollback to VB4.3. Problem resurfaced with host upgrade to Win 10. Reinstalled VB 4.3.30, then VB 5.0.4, then VB 5.0.5 r102781, then VB 5.0.5 r102814.
Still unable to access Windows shares, FTP, SSH to any other lan host, including Win 10 VBox host.

Fixed one and broke another one. Now I cannot access guest from any other machine in the network, only the host. I'm stuck.
