VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration is not available...

Hi there!
I have not much clue about the technicalities of this program.. I really need a "Fix this problem for dummies"...
"VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration is not available on your system. Certain guests (e.g. OS/2 and QNX) require this feature and will fail to boot without it."

I am attempting to install a virtual Windows 10 32 bits (I suppose that's what's called a guest), on my 64 bit Windows 7. I don't have with me any windows install disks availible to me, so what I did was install the windows media creation tool to download a Windows 10 iso. Originally I downloaded the 64 bit version, but the option to have 64 bits windows 10 wasn't availible in the dropdown list, so I decided to put 32 bits.

So what happens is, after getting the message above, the screen just stays on a startup picture... Black screen with blue windows logo, like the one attached. It hangs that way forever.
I downloaded virtualbox yesterday "VirtualBox-5.0.4-102546-Win"

..."Mininimum information needed" thread says I need a log file, which one do you want? I have "Vbox" VboxStartup" "Vbox.log.1", "Vbox.log.2","Vbox.log.3"

Thanks heaps guys, let me know what else is needed

There is no easy way to fix that. Hardware acceleration is part of your physical computer, not something in VirtualBox. The first thing to find out is what CPU your computer has. If that does not support VT-x (Intel CPU) or AMD-V (AMD CPU) there is nothing you can do. (Once you know what CPU you have, you can get its specifications from the manufacturer's website.)

If the CPU supports it but it is not available to VirtualBox, it is either 1. not enabled or 2. it is enabled but is in use by some other software.

If 1. you need to find out how to enable it in the BIOS. This varies from computer to computer depending on the manufacturer of the computer and the motherboard.

If 2. (which is less likely in your case) you need to find out what software on your machine is using it.

Hi there Bill! Thank you for your helpful and concise response to my problem. I'm please to say you were wrong about one thing; it was an easy fix. I looked up my CPU, it was: Intel® Core™ i7-2670QM. I found it was (mostly) supported.

So, I went to bios set up and found "Virtualisation Technology" option was disabled.

Boom, everything works fine. Easy as that
