Missing text elements in Age of Empires 2. Host:OSX G:Win8.1

Post by feurophoric »

When I play Age of Empires 2 on my Win8.1 guest, certain text-elements disappear. Such as the score indicators, on-screen messages, anything entered into the chat text box. This is true for for both AoE2 as well as the Forgotten Empires Expansion. This is not the case when playing the game on a Windows host, so I am lead to believe it coould be some graphics issue with Virtualbox or the Virtualbox/OSX combination. Anyone experience something similar? Advice?

Virtual machines will never be as powerful as the host, specially on the video side. Applications that have high requirements on the GPU (drawing, 3D, games, video) are expected to not work as good as on the real hardware, if they work at all.
Do NOT send me Personal Messages (PMs) for troubleshooting, they are simply deleted.

If you obfuscate any information requested, I will obfuscate my response. These are virtual UUIDs, not real ones.

I am aware of this. But a fix would still be greatly appreciated, so if someone is able to get to the bottom of this, please let me know!:)

I think you missed socratis' point. Certain limitations of VMs cannot be "fixed".
