Can't get Virtualbox to work on Windows 7 laptop

Post by jj2mtn »

I have an HP 840 laptop running Windows 7, 8 GB RAM and I'm trying to get Virtualbox to run a VM that was given to us in a class. I have VMware Workstation running fine on this laptop, checked the virtualization bios settings and everything looks like it should run fine. I installed Virtualbox from this downloaded version VirtualBox-5.0.4-102546-Win.exe. Other people in the same class with the same laptop model and OS installed this version of Virtualbox and booted the .vdi file just fine. I've been thrashing on this for 3 days now. I tried de-installing Virtualbox and reinstalling it, reboot of the laptop, deinstalled Virtualbox and installed two prior versions (VirtualBox-5.0.2-102096-Win.exe and VirtualBox-4.3.30-101610-Win.exe) with the same failure result. I've tried multiple copies of the .vdi files copied from different USB flash drives that all worked on other people's systems. Nothing is allowing me to run this VM.

The virtual machine 'hdp' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005). More details may be available in 'C:\Users\jjacob\VirtualBox VMs\hdp\Logs\VBoxStartup.log'.

Result Code:
E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component:
MachineWrap
Interface:
IMachine {f30138d4-e5ea-4b3a-8858-a059de4c93fd}

I've had about 5 people look at this error and nobody can help me figure out what is going on here, I appreciate any help on this problem. I've uploaded the log files from Virtualbox.

Thanks,

John Jacob

Seems like C:\Program Files (x86)\Citrix\system32\radeaphook64.dll is causing issues. Try desinstalling the Citrix software and try again.

Or check for updates, since a Google search says that this DLL should have a valid certificate.
