Virtual Box won't update & leads to sys restore
Posted: 13. Sep 2015, 17:11
Hello,
To explain all of what has happened would be tedious. I'll do so if necessary, but here's the circumstance:
I can't uninstall OR update VitrualBox. Whenever I try I end up having to restore my entire system because of a peculiarity of the VirtualBox update program.
When VirtualBox updates it temporarily suspends the ability of the computer to communicate with the Internet. VirtualBox actually warns that it is going to do this. The problem occurs because during the update process VirtualBox aborts. The result is that my computer loses connection with the net. The connection can't be restored using normal Windows network connection tools. What I need to know is this:
How do I restore the peculiar network disconnection created by VirtualBox update? Until I know how to do that I can't even TRY to fix the problem, because three times -- so far -- the only way I could re-establish connection was to run a system restore. That takes hours and changes nothing, since VirtualBox still won't update.
Anyone knowledgeable enough to help?
Kind regards,
Cam
