I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit installed in VB on a Linux Mint 17.2 host.
I have installed my Microsoft Works programs successfully from the CD/DVD drive. I have also successfully installed Photoshop 7.0 from a downloaded .exe file I have used many times for install.
Everything is running fine.
Now I am trying to install Magix Movie Edit Pro 14 and am getting the error "D:\ not a valid Win32 application"
I have installed from this disc in the same machine when it ran the same version of Win7. I have also taken the disc to my job and it runs and installs just fine from the disc drive there on Windows 7 Pro.
This is the original disc and is starting the install process in every computer I put it in, except the virtual machine. The VM is seeing the drive and the disc in it as I installed MS Works from there.
This seems to be a VB issue and I don't know how to resolve it. Any help would be appreciated.

Try to enable passthrough in the guest settings for the host CD/DVD drive.

Okay, will try that when I get back home to that computer.

I would also add, since I don't think we're getting the complete story here: make sure not to add spaces to path and filenames that you enter. If the path or filename really does contain a space then wrap the complete path and filename in quotes "like this".

If the install software is presenting you with a dialog from where you are supposed to select a file, make sure you select a file, and don't just click ok.

For some reason, when I got home and turned the computer on I didn't need to adjust anything. The installation worked fine without me doing anything (I had originally tried restarting both the guest and the host system and it didn't change anything). Gremlins in the works I'm guessing.
