I have a Mac desktop 10.10, running kali linux inside virtualbox. My problem is that I cannot get my Mac to release the wireless usb adapter. If I go inside vbox and go to devices, usb and click the adapter it says "unable to mount to device, someone else is using it." Someone else being the host machine (Mac). I have internet inside the virtualbox through the Mac's wireless card, but it shows as eth0. I am following a video so I need it to show up as wlan0. It is requiring that internet show up as wireless. When inputting iwconfig it outputs no wireless found. I have tried to bridge the network but didn't work. I have tried to put the usb in after booting into linux, but that crashes the whole computer every time. I have tried to delete the kext off the Mac for the edimax adapter. That ended up just making the usb useless to both machines. Although it allowed the virtual machine to grab the usb.
Does anyone know how to get the Mac to let go of the usb adapter so that I can connect it to vbox. As I said in the lesson I am taking it shows wlan0 and when he inputs iwconfig it comes back with wireless, and ifconfig shows a wireless network along side the eth0. Mine does not.
