unable to mount guest additions

any one can help with this?
below is a screen capture.
I cant seem to create shared folders and cant seem to instal the aditions.

you should install the guest additions from the VB Devices menu, "Insert Guest Additions CD Image…".

Right click the VM in the VirtualBoxGUI. Select "Show Log". Save "VBox.log" to a file. Compress that file and attach it to a message here. Make sure the VM is fully shut down beforehand.

when i go to the devices and try to install the guest additions here's what I get:

Could not mount the media/drive '/Applications/VirtualBox.app/Contents/MacOS/VBoxGuestAdditions.iso' (VERR_PDM_MEDIA_LOCKED).

I don't see anything obvious. I have Linux Mint 17.2 and LMDE 2 installed as guests. I don't have any mount issues with either. i suppose it could be a permissions error on the Mac side or I'm just missing something. Try running repair permissions with Disk Utlility.

no problem. If that doesn't work one of the Linux gurus may have to chime in.

Did repair permissions fix it?

You want to use VBoxLinuxAdditions.run in the terminal.

run…

Code: Select all

sudo apt-get install dkms build-essential
before you try installing the GAs.
