How to connect some USB device

Host : Windows Vista
guest : openSuse10.2
target USB device : GretagMacbeth eye-one display2 monitor calibrator

VirtualBox recognized eye-one, but could not connect it.
VB said the device was busy.

I want know whether the physically connected USB device should be active or not on Windows, and whether VB can handle the abobe mentioned device on earth.

VB could not connect eye-one anyhow last night.
