[Solved] Can't uninstall VBox to install latest update

the problem is simple. The uninstaller/installer can't find "VirtualBox-4.3.18-r96516-MultiArch_amd64.msi" to complete the uninstall of the version on the Windows 10 OS to then install the latest version.

Anyone got a clue how to get round this as at the moment any easy uninstall of Virtual Box 4.3.18 is not possible. It also won't start on Windows 10, so that is why I'm trying to install the latest virtual box.

I've searched the entire drive of the computer. The file is not there.

Download the old version from https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloa ... _4_3_pre24 and install it ontop your current installation.
After that the update should work.
(and don't use "disk cleaners" again which delete still needed files... )

Thanks for advise. I don't use system cleaners so can't be that which has caused the issue. When I try and install the same version, same thing. It's still asking for that file and won't proceed further.

Download the appropriate version of exe installer. See the user manual for details on how to extract the individual .msi files from the .exe. Put the correct .msi in the folder indicated by the error message.

I have downloaded the appropriate EXE and had a look in it with 7zip. The MSI file is not in there. I'm getting more and more puzzled with this. Someone will have to show me the link to the appropriate text to get the MSI because I can't locate the appropriate instructions where to find the MSI.

I said nothing about using 7-zip. I don't have the user manual on this tablet, but surely you can work out how to search a pdf for "extract" and/or "msi".

Thanks. You could have just told me to put the -extract option on the end of the command. Would have been a lot simpler. That's what I would have done.

I told you that I didn't have access to the user manual at the time, so no, I could not have told you that - I don't have it memorized you know. I vaguely recalled that there was something in the user manual, and it involved the word "extract". So that's the information I gave you.

Does that mean that this issue is solved?

Yep solved. Apologies for any apparent impoliteness. (I've had a horrendous week. That's my excuse.)
