I've searched, read and tried just about everything I can find and so far, no luck ... so I'm obviously missing *something* ...
Host: Mac OS X (El Capitan)
- Windows 8.1 worked perfectly fine
Vbox: 5.0.2
- Windows 10.x upgraded with 5.0.2 VBox Guest Additions
Network Adapter in GUI: Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop
Network Type: Bridged *or* NAT ... tried both
Go into Device Manager, the Device says "This device is working properly", and if I right click on it, it says it is Enabled. This is after I had to "Re-install Driver".
Go into Network Settings -> Change Adapter Options, it shows the Device as Disabled ... right click and click 'Enable', a window pops up that goes from "Enabling" -> "Enabled" and then disappears ... but the device stays Disabled ...
If I right click on the device and go to Properties ... its all blank, as if nothing is loaded ... ?
I found this article (viewtopic.php?f=8&t=60883) talking about disabling IPv6 on the Mac side ... tried that, made no difference.
Now, I know others have this working, so figure there is something that should be obvious that I'm missing ... but I can't find it ...
Suggestions?

Re: Windows 10.x - No Network
Not that this helps you but El Capitan is not a supported host yet. Windows 10 is not a supported guest yet. Given all that, My Windows 10 guest works just fine with my iMac running 10.11 dp8 connected through Wi-Fi. I haven't tested it on a Mac connected directly to an Ethernet connection.

You may want to try the current test build. It's what I am running.

Re: Windows 10.x - No Network
'k, tried the test build, as well as 5.0.4 that was just released ... updated extpack, as well as Guest Additions ... have also tried it on a Yosemite system I have, just in case it was El Capitan related ... doesn't work there either ...
From Device Manager in Windows 10 Guest, I uninstalled the ethernet and reinstalled it ... it appears to install fine ...
Go to Network Settings -> Change Adapter settings, and the ethernet is disabled, but also, if I do properties, its empty (see attached image) ...
I did the upgrade for this using the Media Creation Tool that others on this forum suggested using ... and hte upgrade *seemed* to go fine ...
I've also attached my setup for the Guest in the GUI ... not that there is much tht I think I can screw up in there, but what network type are you using? I'm using NAT, and my host computer is, like yours, WiFi ...
Thx

Re: Windows 10.x - No Network
Having the same exact issue as Scrappy, same symptoms. One big difference is I'm using Windows 8.1 x64 as a host. I also tried Windows 7 x64 as a host.
VM is Windows 10, upgraded from Windows 7. I repeatedly tried to remove the nics and trying different nics (paravirtual, Intel Pro/1000), using NAT and Bridged mode.
Some notes/steps taken:
- I uninstalled the vbox extensions before my Win7 upgrade
- At one point during the upgrade, once Win10 was fully loaded but before a reboot, the network was working. After the final reboot it stopped working and it's never worked since.
- Tested the guest on VirtualBox 4.3.12, 4.3.30, 5.0.1, 5.0.2, 5.0.3, and 5.0.4.
- Tested the guest with "version" set to Windows 7, Windows 8.1, Windows 10
- Tested with guest chipset at ICH9 and PIIX3
- Removed my .vbox file and create a new VM attaching to the existing .vdi file.
Just to make sure it's not a host issue, I decided to just test a Windows 10 clean install. The network works fine on a clean install.
