Windows 10

Post by bigtreehouse »

I am running Windows 7 Sp1 on a MacBook Pro with 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor.

The Windows upgrade icon has appeared on my desktop however when I run it it says that my Processor is not compatible!

Any clues please.

Please search for previous answers before posting - this Q has already been asked and answered numerous times in the "Windows Guests" forum.

The solution is to fully shut down the VM (not suspend), and change the OS type to "Windows 10 (xx bit)" in the VM settings. Then uninstall the guest additions (these can be reinstalled after the upgrade). Of course you must have a version of VirtualBox which offers the Windows 10 option - you neglected to mention which VirtualBox version you use.

And please bear in mind that Windows 10 is not officially supported by VirtualBox yet.

Moving this topic to "Windows Guests", since the OS X host does not affect the answer.
