usb adapter release from host?

when I go to devices inside my virtual machine and click the wireless adapter it gives me a error that it is already being used by someone. how do I get my mac to let go so that I can use it in my virtual kali linux. I have internet connection on the virtual machine but cannot get it to show up as wireless. how do I set that up and release it from host os??

It's never going to work unless the USB to Wireless adapter you bought is compatible with both Macs and Linux. What is the model of your Edimax adapter?
