Problem Internet after install VirtualBox [Win8.1 x64]

Post by Jonathan Miguel »

Hi!, I know very little English, so Sorry my bad English  :? ... I speak Spanish.

Ok, I have problem with Internet (specifically all network interfaces, including the network card and Wifi). When I install VirtualBox (5.0.2) for first time on new laptop, stay without internet  , not resetting Windows  . But if I Uninstall VirtualBox, my Internet is Back  . My problem is limited or no connection after install VirtualBox.

I have Windows 8.1 Single Lenguaje on x64 .. new laptop is ASUS x455la, i5-4210u with 6GB RAM, on VMware Workstation 11 NOT problem, this work perfect

Please, I appreciate any response, Thanks you.

VMware and VirtualBox both use a bridge driver on your regular network interfaces to provide one type of network access to the guests (Bridged mode). these two drivers conflict with each others and can cause issues like this.
Try by installing VirtualBox without the Host-Only & Bridged mode when you can select features at install time.

I have not installed together (Vmware with virtualbox), VirtualBox install it first, did Internet problems, uninstall it (Internet returned to work) and then I tried with VMware, this did not give me any problem

Yes it is possible that application is source of conflict. Try uninstalling it.

If it doesn't work, please try my initial suggestion:

I try by installing VirtualBox without the Host-Only & Bridged mode (I don't uninstall the mentioned application, because I need it).... This works well, the Internet works fine. Thanks you! .....

These components is necessary? Without this I work without problems?

PD: The Internet works well both in the virtual machine and Windows host

You don't need them for a basic usage of VirtualBox, no. You'll need them if you want to do advanced activities, but if internet is working on the host and in your VMs, you are good :)
