CPU usage

Post by ViperChief »

Is there anything I can do to reduce the CPU usage for VirtualBox? Right now, my CPU is pegged at 100%. Sometimes, it'll come down to 10 or 20%, but for the most part it stays at 100% while I'm running. I can understand it when I'm using a heavy guest, but right now, I'm trying to run only the LFS LiveCD with only the CLI, no X running in the guest. I figured VirtualBox was a good place to try my hand at LFS. But, without doing anything at all, it's eating up my CPU. I ran 'top' in the guest, and it shows no CPU usage.

While compiling stuff, I know the CPU is going to be hard at work, but I'd like it to start off low, not start off already maxed out. Is there a way to get VirtualBox to not slam my CPU so hard when it's not really doing much? If it helps, I have an Athlon 64 3700+ 2.4GHz.
