Internet connection problem

Post by WimL »

Hi,

I'm relatively new on VirtualBox and have this problem I can't seem the find the solution for.

Situation:

Host: Windows Server 2012R2. This runs on a dedicated server and has two IP addresses: 1.2.3.4 (sort of speak) and 192.168.0.2
Guest: Linux distribution (Ubuntu). IP-address: 192.168.0.1
Network link made using bridged mode

From the guest I can ping 192.168.0.2 as well as 1.2.3.4, but I can't ping any external IP (eg: 8.8.8.8)

What I tried so far:
- switching to NAT mode: in that case the VM has no network connection whatsoever
- disabling firewall, etc on the host ...
- enabling "sharing" on the network connection
- ...

In the past I had VirtualBox running on Ubuntu as a host. In that case I justed need to add a POSTROUTING iptables rule on the host and that was it ...

Thanks for any input !!
