USB Digiview logic analyzer hangs on win7 guest

Hi
I am having a problem with a USB 2.0 device on a Windows guest.
I am running VB 5.0.2 on a Mac 10.10.4 ( Yosemite ) Host OS
The device is a digiview logic analyzer that I believe us using a Cypris usb chipset.
the usb device loads its driver and looks good in the device manager but hangs the logic analyzer program.
I searched the web and found that someone placed a ticket to VB 5 years ago for the same issue

any suggestions on how to proceed??
