Huge Issue: Cannot import VM from one OSX machine to another

I have VirtualBox 5.0.2 on one OSX machine, exporting/importing works fine.

When I go to my laptop and try to import the image I get this error (same details as above):

A new node couldn't be inserted because one with the same name exists. (VERR_CFGM_NODE_EXISTS).

Even after uninstalling using the script, reinstalling and starting VirtualBox it says it cannot find the old VM's in the GUI even though they have been trashed/deleted. This is the same for any VM I try to import.

This is completely stopping me from being able to work since I cannot get any VMs to work on my laptop now.

The full error I get is:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine kjq.

A new node couldn't be inserted because one with the same name exists. (VERR_CFGM_NODE_EXISTS).

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: ConsoleWrap
Interface: IConsole {872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed}

Hello. Don't know if this will be of any help. I tried exporting a VM from my iMac yesterday. As you stated, the export was no issue. Trying to import the VM onto my Macbook Pro didn't work. I got a different error message to yours. Mine was privilege related. But OS X is touchy like that. I had exported the VM using target disc mode. When I set up file sharing between the two machines and transferred the VM via the network everything worked like a charm. Like I said, don't know if this will help but if there is any chance that your privileges got screwed up it might. Good luck. GL

I don't know if you literally "trashed/deleted" your VMs but that is not the proper way to remove them if that's what you did. None the less, check in the VirtualBox Media Manager and see what still exists there and remove what you threw away.
