run virtual box from host safe mode

Post by sgroves85 »

Howdy all, little idea I had after screwing up my pc downgrading the bios to install windows 7, all went to hell and 7 only works now in safe mode and there's no bios update utility for the lenovo H500s.. ANYWAY, i've managed to enable sound in safe mode and windows installer to install virtualbox, now i need to get virualbox itself to run a virtual machine.. when starting i get a vboxdrv error, the service is stopped for obvious reasons but is it possible to bypass this?

I don't think staying in safe mode will be any good for VirtualBox, and this is not just a generic answer. VirtualBox is a very complicated piece of software. Expecting to run in a crippled Windows installation is pointless...
And to answer the specific of your question: no you cannot bypass that service - it is the core of VirtualBox for all the virtualization features.
