Win 10, Bridged solution for 4.3.12-93733 at all? No brd

Post by HalfNote5 »

EDIT: I realize the 4.3.12 comment is completely redundant, but given the OTHER problem involved here, I'm mentioning it simply because perfectly willing to entertain a bridged solution for that version.

Background:
Host is Acer Aspire Switch 10 Atom w/ Baytrail 64 bit chipset, but running Win 10 home 32-bit.

Tired to replace Win with Lin natively, so I could use some network utils (I work in IT) but due to lack of Baytrail support yet, Virtualbox it is.

VB 4.3.12 works great- EXCEPT the bridged adapter bit.

Tried NEWER versions of 4.3, 5. but none will even boot the vm. Crashes immediately with 0x1 E_fail.

Also, I could never get a vdi to boot. Have to use .vhd in 4.3.12-93733, and even then, I had to hit Start 3 times, each time, getting a different error before it'd fire up.

Lastly, because I DO save things into system folders, or WOULD like to create the occasional system script in the root folder, I've disabled LUA in the registry. I can, but shouldn't need (though, of course, have tried selecting) Run as Admin.

Now, I know this is a bit of an esoteric setup, but I'd really appreciate a clue.

I tried the test builds yesterday, as well: No dice. Also, I tried adding the 4.3.12 bridged service manually but it just blinks and vanishes in the adapter settings when I hit OK.

Thanks all!
