hi
i'm new to virtual box but i know about computers, so i'm not a beginner or anything

I have read multiple posts about poeple who can't connect their usb device to the virtual machine, none of them helped me out. I have installed the expansion pack (latest version). I have installed the guest additions. i did the filter, i tried usb 3, nothing even pops up. when i try usb 2 i get an error that it cannot connect. it does not connect to my macbook pro first, if it does i know that it like prevents it from connecting to the VM. can someone help me out here? i need it because for school i need something called phonegap and i can only install it on a windows. i can download the files i need from the internet, but i would like to fix this usb problem

If u can help me Thanks in advance, if u can't thanks anyway

Which version of OSX are you running and what is the USB device you are trying to connect?
FWIW, PhoneGap is not Windows only.

I am using the latest os yosemite, i know i can install phonegap on mac but our teacher has made a fast install method for windows, and its not about phonegap anymore its about the usb thingy :p. The usb device is an external hardrive from seagate 2tb seagate expansion.
Thanks for the reply

You may or may not know this but Windows can't read a drive formatted for Macs. Also if it is a USB3 drive Windows 7 has no USB3 support so you would need to install USB3 drivers for Windows 7.
You could access the drive by using shared folders.

The drive is formatted exfat, so both mac and windows can read. I did not know about the usb 3 drivers for windows 7 though. Ill instal the drivers. But when i try usb 2 it recognises it but then shows an error cannot use blabla. I will look into those drivers in a couple days, i have an exam tomorow and lots to do. I'll let you know

FWIW, making the drive a shared folder would be easier.
