Any estimate as to when VBox on Win 10 is going to be fixed?

Post by Ztruker »

I'm still getting this when I try to run a VM created under Win 8.1 but now under Win 10
Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Windows 10 TP X64.

Cannot load R0 module C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox/VBoxDDR0.r0: SUPR3LoadModule: supLoadModule returned VERR_LDR_MISMATCH_NATIVE (VERR_LDR_MISMATCH_NATIVE).

Failed to register ourselves as a PCI Bus (VERR_MODULE_NOT_FOUND).

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: ConsoleWrap
Interface: IConsole {872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed}
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling VB ver 5, no change.

As to the question in the topic: Whatever estimates may or may not exist internally are not and will not be communicated publicly, sorry. When there's something to announce, it will be announced. If you have a support contract with Oracle, you might learn something that way. Otherwise, no.

Always think twice before upgrading to a new version. That goes for upgrading both VirtualBox and Windows. Especially when it's hard to downgrade (VirtualBox is at least easy to downgrade).

There's been a few posts about Windows 10 and your error.
Google "VERR_LDR_MISMATCH_NATIVE site:forums.virtualbox.org"
I seem to recall that there's been a couple possible solutions.

Thank you scotttgus1. That did it for me. I found this post:

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=68264&p=331945#p324152

which fixed it for me and I am now able to use Vbox on Win 10 with my existing VMs.
The secret was to remove shared folders.
Now I will try to redefine them again and see what happens.

Nice to have Vbox back.

The VERR_LDR_MISMATCH_NATIVE error should be fixed with the latest Windows test build from here. Please confirm!
