You-Tube Video slow on windows guest win7

Hello,

I have recently updated my windows 7 to windows 10 (who didn't).
Now, when i run my virtual machines (Windows 7 and/or Windows XP), the video playback is not working smoothly.

On Windows XP, the playback starts but then stops after 2 seconds
On Windows 7, the playback starts but is stuttery, no smooth playback.

I tried different webbrowsers but the result is the same.

I use the latest VBOX version (V5.0) and the latest additions.
Played with memory settings, cpu settings, etc, .... No improvement.

Before the upgrade from windows 7 to windows 10, there was not any problem.

Regards,
Roverius
Any advice?

I believe it's because guest audio is not working correctly with Windows 10 hosts. Try this workaround for audio and see if the videos play better.

Hello,

Thanks for this workaround.

When i open a soundfile on the guest OS and then boot the Virtual OS, i hear now the Windows tune also, wich i didn't hear before.

This seems to solve the problem, but you need to do it every time when you use a Virtual Machine untill there is a solution.
For the moment i can live with this temporary solution.

I place the workaround here also for other user who might also bump into this issue

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Start Virtual Box
2) Start your guest VM
3) BEFORE attempting to play sound from the guest, start an application that engages the audio device on the Win 10 host (I use a youtube video)
4) While audio is playing on the host, attempt to play audio from the guest.

The audio from the guest should start playing as well. At this point, you can stop the audio from the host which is no longer necessary. This seems to fix the issue until VirtualBox is shut down. You can even reboot or shutdown your guests.

I have been able to successfully do this with VB 5.0 as well as 5.0.1 (test build 101957)

Thanks a lot.

You're welcome. Windows 10 hosts aren't fully supported as yet. I'm sure they will be in a future VB maintenance release.
