Upgraded to 5.0 and now none of my VMs start

Post by Industrial »

I get this message

Code: Select all

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Win7.

The virtual machine 'Win7' has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1). More details may be available in 'C:\Documents and Settings\Admin\VirtualBox VMs\Win7\Logs\VBoxStartup.log'.

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: MachineWrap
Interface: IMachine {f30138d4-e5ea-4b3a-8858-a059de4c93fd}
but I don't get anything in the VboxStartup.log, it's all greek to me.

I know I can simply revert to 4.3.12 but I'd like to use 5.0 if possible.

If you were using 4.3.12 and now 5 doesn't work, you probably have fallen afoul of the security hardening, which means some of the other programs on your computer, like antivirus or a bad Windows update or two, or a hacked theme may be present. The startup log will need to be posted. See the Security thread (scratch that, the security book :) ) at the top of the Windows Hosts forum.

Apologies, here's the startup log.
I don't have an antivirus running and I have Windows updates disabled.

I'm using Windows 7 32-bit and my guest is the same, though this doesn't matter because all my guests that worked on 4.3.12 now fail with the same error.
