Help, and explain to me like im 10

Post by Tnewb »

What does this mean, and how can I get virtual box back up and running? I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling, making more room, repairing, whatever, and I cannot get it to work. Here is the message:

Result Code:
E_FAIL (**********)
Component:
VirtualBox
Interface:
IVirtualBox {3b2f08eb-b810-4715-bee0-bb0*******}

I took some of the numbers out because I dont know if they are personally identifying numbers?? Help!

No, those are error identification numbers, so taking them out kind of defeats the purpose of asking for help.

You should also tell us what you changed, to go from a working system to a non-working one.

Not letting me quote you guys yet

Result Code:
E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component:
VirtualBox

IVirtualBox {3b2f08eb-b810-4715-bee0-bb06b9880ad2}

I haven't changed anything either! The only thing I can thing of is I changed AVG to launch on my browser bar, but I don't think that would mess it up? It was giving me a different message before and I changed it to run in "compatibility mode" to Windows 8... I have no idea what I'm doing I'm just using trial and error :oops:

That error looks like a corrupt VirtualBox.xml. Look in the folder indicated and see if there is a *.xml-prev And what is the file size as well as the file size of the *.xml
You can also zip both and post here as an attachment which would help.
